Wireless cutting of thin sheets

Weighing in at just 1.4 kilograms, the TruTool PN 130 Li-Ion-Akku profiling nibbler is an extremely lightweight example of this class of tools. It can cut sheets up to 1.3 millimeters thick with a tensile strength of 400 N/mm2. Meanwhile, its modern 10.8 V Li-ion battery technology and light metal gear head make it user-friendly and give it excellent operational performance.

The TRUMPF TruTool PN 130 Li-Ion-Akku profiling nibbler has been available on the market for over a year now. In this short time, it has become well established in several sectors. It is especially popular among roofers, façade engineers, and hall builders as a modern tool for use on building sites, where its cordless operation makes it suitable for a wide variety of jobs. It can cut trapezoidal profiles, corrugated sheets, and profile sheets just as quickly and easily as it can flat sheet metal.

Its advanced 10.8 V Li-ion battery provides two ampere-hours of electricity as standard. In combination with a specially developed light metal gear head – known as Power-Head technology – the nibbler loses very little power. By implication, that means the TruTool PN 130 Li-Ion-Akku offers above-average operational performance. For example, it can cut 23 meters of mild steel (tensile strength 400 N/mm2) up to 0.8 millimeters thick. The optional, larger battery with a charge capacity of four ampere-hours doubles cutting performance.

Modern 10.8 V Li-ion battery technology ensures excellent operational performance over long periods.

In addition, users benefit from electronic individual cell monitoring, which protects the battery from overload, overheating, and deep discharge. This ensures that optimum performance goes hand in hand with a long service life.

Ergonomic, practical, ideal

Experience from using the innovative profiling nibbler in practice shows that operators can work with it for long periods without getting tired. The key to this is the compact, ergonomic design developed by TRUMPF. Among other things, the designers carefully optimized the weight distribution between the gear head and the motor, and they fitted the motor housing with a soft grip that makes the tool extremely comfortable to handle.

The TruTool PN 130 Li-Ion-Akku cordless profiling nibbler can cut trapezoidal profiles, corrugated sheets, and profile sheets just as easily as it can flat sheet metal.

Just as importantly, the profiling nibbler does not obstruct the user’s view of the work surface, and chips fall downward evenly. This allows for exact separating cuts. What’s more, the tool carrier is capable of turning 360°, so roofers and façade engineers can always choose the right cutting direction for their TruTool PN 130 Li-Ion-Akku. They can even cut radii as small as 25 millimeters.

To meet the different needs of its users, TRUMPF offers two different punches for the cordless profiling nibbler. The high-speed version is suitable for jobs where working speed is the prime consideration. For jobs where cut accuracy is more important, the company recommends the high-quality punch for precise working at a slightly reduced speed.

Roofers, façade engineers, and hall builders like to use this modern tool on building sites, but it is also used in workshops.

A belt clip is a practical standard feature. This keeps both the user’s hands free when climbing onto a roof or on scaffolding.

Users have identified the long service life of wear parts as an additional benefit. The punch of course needs to be replaced after a certain interval, but thankfully the integrated die makes this quick and easy, with no need for additional equipment. According to Michael Keilbach, Sales Manager Germany for TRUMPF Power Tools, this feature is particularly important on building sites: “Nobody has the time to spend endless minutes performing a simple die change. It’s unacceptable in the workshop and even more so on a building site. With the TruTool PN 130 – as with all our thin sheet metal nibblers – it takes just seconds to change the die. Because it’s held in place by a magnet, the die can’t fall out, and it’s also automatically centered.”

Other tools with a 10.8 V Li-ion battery

If you want to avoid the small chips that nibbling produces, the sheet metal experts at TRUMPF have a variety of other cordless solutions in their portfolio. For instance, the TruTool C 160 Li-Ion-Akku slitting shears can cut steel sheet 1.6 millimeters thick (tensile strength of 400 N/mm2) with no distortion. If this is fitted with the optional chip clipper, you can simply clip off the chip at any point, which lets you pull the tool out of the workpiece without a problem.

All these tools share the same 10.8 V Li-ion battery and charging technology and are compatible with each other.

The other tools TRUMPF offers with a 10.8 V Li-ion battery are the TruTool S 160 curve shears, the S 114 trimming shears, and the TruTool DD 1010 drill driver. All these tools share the same battery and charging technology and are compatible with each other. Since two batteries are supplied as standard with each tool and charging times are very short, you can use them almost constantly. It takes just 15 minutes for the two ampere-hour version to reach an 80-percent charge, or 30 minutes to achieve a 100-percent charge.
