Wanzl of Leipheim manufactures stylish carts.

At some time or other, everyone will have used a product made by Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik. The company, headquartered in the Swabian town of Leipheim, is one of Germany’s “hidden champions” and manufactures shopping, transportation and luggage carts and many others. You see them in supermarkets, garden centers, furniture stores and airports. People using them expect high quality, augmented by a stylish design. They make it easy for you to maneuver crates, cartons or groceries through crowded areas.

We hardly produce standard series any more, but focus more on project business. This can entail up to a hundred different job orders per day.

Since the beginning of 2014, Wanzl has been producing many of their products with a reliable and precise TruLaser Tube 7000. It cuts steel, stainless steel and aluminum tubes used in the frames for these sturdy carts. “We use this machine mainly to cut
curves in tube walls, making for perfect matching and ideal welds,” explains production manager Karl-Heinz Horn. In the past, the ends of the tubes were shaped by punching or milling. “This had its limitations from a technical standpoint, quite apart from being expensive,” he adds.

The fully automatic laser-powered tube cutting unit TruLaser Tube 7000 minimizes non-productive times and cuts tubes and profiles up to 254 millimeters in outer circle diameter, with wall thickness of up to eight millimeters.

In addition to excellent cutting quality, this high-end tube cutting machine scores with its great flexibility. That is necessary because Wanzl offers a transportation method suitable for any need and there are numerous models. “We hardly produce standard series any more, but focus more on project business. This can entail up to a hundred different job orders per day,” relates Horn.

Since the TruLaser Tube 7000 permits production without need of tools, it can be utilized quickly and without interruption to process differing materials and models. With an output of some 300 finished carts a day, this is a great benefit to Karl-Heinz Horn. www.wanzl.com
